"This
1,000 page, 3-volume training system (Facilitator'sHandbook, Facilitator's
Resource Guide and Participants Workbook) is based on diversity research
and instructional design principles, and it shows.
The system is organized by the Diversity Journey Map, a comprehensive
structure that divides the 10 modules and 29 learning activities into
the four categories of the AISA Competency Chain (Awareness, Information,
Skill-building, and Application).
The map does accomplish its purpose -- it gives both the trainer
and the learner a grasp of the bigger picture of the journey ahead.
And what a tool to educate senior management and change agents about
the complexity of the diversity challenge and process!
The beginning module is right on target; it links the challenges
facing organizations to the diversity imperative. The remaining modules
include defining diversity, why value it, barriers, differences and
similarities, communicating, resolving conflicts, building diverse teams,
initiating systemic change and the ongoing process.
The materials are well written and attractively presented. The
facilitator's materials are abundant and the participant's workbook
contains helpful activities and lots of worksheets. An excellent
training design."
